Audiences were more than happy to get a little horror-fied this weekend.
Paranormal Activity 3 scared up $54 million in theaters, making it the biggest opening of all time for a horror film, as well as the best ever October debut.
Real Steel and teen dance rebellion Footloose came in a distant second and third with $11.3 million and $10.9 million, respectively.
New release Three Musketeers 3D wound up in fourth place with $8.8 million, followed by George Clooney‘s political drama The Ides of March, which nabbed the fifth spot with $4.9 million.
Rounding out the Top Ten were Dolphin Tale ($4.2 million), Moneyball ($4.1 million), Jonnny English Reborn ($3.8 million), The Thing ($3.1 million) and 50/50 ($2.8 million).
